Located in the affluent Town of Harpenden in leafy Hertfordshire, our latest project 'The Harpenden Arms' for Fullers Smith and Turner; a former Railway Hotel first opened in 1871.
Embracing the history of the building we set out to open the space and create zoned drinking and dining areas; a ground floor snug area allows for informal drinking whilst the large orangery creates a picturesque bright dining space with views of the common. Carefully considered colours, textures and bespoke planters add depth and richness.
Upstairs hosts a more formal dining room bathed in natural light from its large windows on two aspects, complementing the new offering and menu.
This was a major refurbishment over four months which led to a complete re-arrangement of the layout over three floors to gain further trading space and a managers flat to the loft space.
Original features of the pub have been retained and complimented by an eclectic mix of quality finishes to add a contemporary, comfortable look and feel. The array of material finishes, well considered and upholstered furniture, lighting features and textures work well together to offer a vibrant, refreshing yet traditional space.
