The Cork - Bar Design
This bar design is a development of the cellar area and courtyard of an existing city centre pub, the name is given from a series of interconnecting vaults that are thought to be Roman.
The clients’ target market was Bath college immediately opposite, as well as continuing to attract the local professional market at lunchtime and early evenings. To maximise trade space, the cellar of the existing pub was moved during the bar design process, and a new bar and kitchen installed in it’s place.
Bar Design Detail
At the rear of the building an old barrel yard was removed and a new glazed entrance created. Cast concrete seating was added to make the most of a natural sun trap, quality exterior space is at a premium in Bath and this new area has proved instantly popular. A large amount of the natural Bath stone was uncovered and the new structural steel work was left exposed, to complete the bar design's industrial look Tolix bar stools and a chunky Douglas Fir bar front were installed.
