The Wellington is the largest site on Bath Ales books. The original dark blue and orange brand colour paintwork was in need of more than just touching up. The lighting was flat and unflattering, and the back bar was a dust trap housing a collection of old trophies and pictures, and the management were keen to make the pub more welcoming to women.
Firstly a new colour scheme was introduced to get away form the dark blue, and also to lighten the walls. The tar brown floor was stripped and sealed to expose the original Oregon Pine. The motley collection of energy saving bulbs in the glass shades over the bar were replaced with low wattage clear incandescents, and a series of focused Halogen spots were installed on the ceiling which immediately warmed the whole environment and created intimate pools of warm light.
A new back-bar was installed with wine boxes centred in each of the dual facings, under each box was a small chalkboard to clearly identify the wine and it's cost by the glass or bottle. To finish a series of simple black and white photographs were hung.
- Wine sales increased by more than 20% following refurb.
- Round wine skink on corner of back bar
- Decorative shelves of wellington boots
