Restaurant Design - Introduction

Restaurant Design

At Simple Simon Design we understand restaurant interiors. We know how and why they work, and we have a wealth of experience project managing builds and refurbishments to time and budget. We pride ourselves on tailoring solutions to suit your market. We care deeply about good restaurant design and how that improves your customers experience and our clients' results.

Restaurant Interior Design Schemes

There is a diverse range of restaurant interiors on this site that we've already completed, we've tried to demonstrate the flexibility of our restaurant designers, and we hope that you'll navigate our site to find something that you like. Graze is a new all day chop house and bar for a regional brewer, Aqua is an Italian restaurant aimed at a top end clientele but with affordable prices, Clifton Kitchen is a small bistro in the smart part of town, No.1 Beaufort is a family run restaurant with a neighbourly feel, Prego is a boutique modern Italian with an all day offering, Garcon is a traditional French brasserie.

Restaurant Design Process

The first stage of any restaurant interior design scheme is to meet the client. The most important constituent part of any design is the client's needs, how many covers does the client need to achieve the business plan?, what are the operational aims for the service?, who is the restaurant aimed at and what sort of atmosphere is trying to be achieved?and what is the budget. As the interior designer we need to convince you that we are the sort of people you can work with, that's why our first consultation is free, and why you'll get a written brief sent back to you for you to see that we understand your aims

Planning the restaurant design

Functionality is the foundation of any good restaurant design scheme, that's why the first work we do is look at the plan of the building. We need to establish that the restaurant will work as a system, to consider the service lines to and from the kitchen, and customer traffic routes through the interior, suitable access to all facilities. It's only once the restaurant plan has been thoroughly considered that we can start talking about style and appearance.

Restaurant concept design

As designers we pitch the interior scheme at your clientele, depending on their age, income bracket or personal philosophy. The restaurant interior design scheme has to express the values of the service you're offering and to create the theatre in which your food is served.

Costing the restaurant refurbishment

From the interior design visuals we will produce a drawing package for tendering. It's important that you know you've got a fair price. Our tender package includes information of all build, decoration, electrical, heating and kitchen works so that we can gather costs from several sources, before selecting a suitable contractor together.

Project Managing the restaurant refurbishment and build

Once appointed we'll supervise the contractor's work, and have regular site meetings with them and you to keep you abreast of the refurbishment program. We'll be staying on top of all cost and time issues, we know that a restaurant is a business, and that every day closed is another day's lost revenue.

Experience of Interior Design in Restaurants

As interior designers of restaurants Simple Simon Design have a long list of satisfied customers, and are also able to bring our experience as bar designers and interior designers of hotels, cafes and nightclubs so that the lessons learned in one sector are applied in the other. We are very proud of our bar design work and there are several examples on our site. The Hop Pole is a traditional pub that we brightened with a few minor operational changes, a new colour scheme and a fully refurbished dining room. The Cork is a basement extension of the pub above, the contemporary bar is aimed very much at a young market, the Hen and Chicken was an unpopular sports bar and we revitalised the interior to make it a contemporary pub that appealed to a new upwardly mobile clientele. 17 Black is a small champagne bar for a wealthy Cotswold town, it even had a boutique nightclub upstairs. The design aims of Mybar were to provide a contemporary champagne bar as a feeder to the nightclub above.
