Our first design for Nando’s, a refurbishment at The Mall in Bristol, The design brief was to enhance and update the existing space; adopting the Nando’s Heritage of African Portuguese food with vibrant colours, bold patterns and a mixed use of textures whilst maintaining the best use of space.
Set within a Mall complex the restaurant is split across two areas separated by another business; an important part of the design brief was to effectively incorporate the spaces ensuring flow between the two. The restaurant is on a mezzanine level, a key challenge was to create visual presence from the lower levels of the Mall. Lighting, signage and design features all contributed to achieving this.
Breaking up the space, lighting and booth style seating are carefully considered throughout; a large bespoke tree light is featured centrally with the intention of attracting customers from the lower levels. A faceted copper feature was designed for the restaurant bulkhead, hand turned giant beads greet customers on their way in whilst concrete stencilled walls are seen throughout.
