About time too !
If you're a frequent visitor to the site then you'll have noticed there's been little change for a few weeks. The good news is that's because we're busy, however we've now updated our gallery with images of some of our early 2010 jobs. Some of the pictures have come from our new friend James Stokes Photography.
(You may need to clear the cache on your computer to see the updates, thanks for your interest)

Do You Boof ?
Cardiff's new St. Davids shopping centre is the setting for French restaurateur Fracis Dupuy's latest brainchild - Fast French Food. "Boof" is a derivation of the french word Bouffe, which literally translates as "Grub". Expect Toulouse sausage, rotisserie chicken all wrapped up in the usual great interior!

Tea Time in Taunton
We're just putting the finishing touches to the servery and retail cabinets for a new Taunton venture. The former Laura Ashely High St location is being turned into a tea shop for the discerning drinkers of Taunton, and Simple Simon and our friends at Reynolds Collcutt are building the main shop area for Miles Teas who are based in the lovely seaside town of Porlock. We're looking forward to seeing the instore roaster that will give you any blend of coffee that you want, and fill the area with that fantastic roasted coffee smell.

Aqua by the water
What could be more appropriate for "Aqua" than refurbishing it's waterside location. Now open again after the post-Christmas shut-down we've aimed to bring the sophistication of the Clifton restaurant to the Welshback restaurant and add a little chic. One of the main aims was to refresh the bar area where we've added shimmering mosaic tiles, a white marble top and a fragmented mirror back and porcelain pendants. There's new furniture booth seats and party tables and a 16ft long shelving unit to make this a far better venue for socialising and should drive the wet sales as well as the new Italian menu. Photos of the finished results to follow in due course.

Thanks to Mark at Covert Digital we've now updated our gallery so that we can share more pictures of some of our projects. Latest up are the Graze images - here's a taste.

MmmooooOOOOoooo !
It's been a hectic weekend getting all the last bis and pieces finished off, the furniture laid out and some signage up, and now this week Graze is going to open to the public. It's been a real privilege being entrusted by Bath Ales with their new all day offering, a bar and chophouse, and we're very proud of the results. Tiles from Spain, unique wall paper with cow images, one metre diameter shades, a bull's head and even a 4ft baby calf have all been included in the Queen Square location. As of this Wednesday (18th November ) you'll be able to sample the new menu yourself, and accompany your meal with a glass of wine or one of Bath Ales prize winning beers. We hope to have some pictures for you before too long, until then here's one of the early visuals.
Good luck and thanks to Robin, Roger, Jamie and the rest of the Bath Ales team.

sssshhh!
We're very pleased to announce that we've been appointed by one of the South West's favourite brewers and pub companies to design a new Bristol City centre location. For the moment it's all a bit hush-hush, but visuals and other details will be right here within the next couple of weeks.

Beaufort Opens!
Congratulations to Rupert, Anne and Paul on the opening of No.1 Beaufort. We were given dinner last week and I've got to say the food was fantastic, really good, if the kitchen keep that up then the Adams family should have a winner on their hands. We look forward to getting some finished images up on the website, but in the meantime here are a couple of visuals, we're particularly pleased with the laser cut oak bar front it looks much better in real life.

Piranha sees off the old Scot
The Hibernian Tavern in Holyhead has now reopened as the Piranha. Although our input was only fairly limited, (building the bar and helping with the colours and the lighting scheme) we're still very proud of the finished thing. Here's a picture from their facebook page until we're able to get some better images together.

Is Simple Simon taking on the whole of Bath?
.....not quite, but we are very pleased to announce that we've started work on a new venue on London Road in Bath. Cheeky Chirpy Chippy Darren is already on site, tearing into the old Filo's sport bar at 1 Beaufort West and in it's place we've been asked to deliver a comfortable all day eating and drinking venue for the local community of Larkhall.
We're also very pleased to be currently working with The Close Hotel Tetbury and undertaking a new bar and interior design for the Hibernian Tavern nightclub in Holyhead, amongst others.
Pictures of all will follow soon.

Cork's flying in Bath
Due to open in early June, this bar is going to be located in the basement vaults of The Cork in Bath. Simple Simon were commissioned to design and supervise the manufacture of the bar as well as advising on other elements of the design scheme. Our clients wanted to blend the contemporary with a sort of chunky "low-tech", and we think what you're looking at hits the spot. Combined with a new garden development, which offers a rare outside drinking venue in Bath, there's no doubt that the Cork vaults are going to be a huge hit this Summer.

Low flying UFO's in Gloucestershire
It's taken a while, but we've finally uploaded some images of one of our more prestigious recent projects. Our minimalist lounge/bar/kitchen is located where the squash court, swimming pool and bowling alley meet, in the leisure area of the exceptional Swinhay House. This place only lacks a monorail to make it the perfect dwelling for a James Bond super-villain. Check out the "domestic interiors" folder on our gallery, and on top of the Bath cinema project, you'll now find images of Simple Simon's contribution to the sport area of this exceptional ultra "green" house.

Aqua Clifton opens to critical acclaim
Mark Taylor of the Bristol Evening Post says....
....."the light and airy restaurant couldn't be more different from Colley's supper Rooms. The Aqua boss employed Bristol based designers Simple Simon Design to come up with the fresh new look for the restaurant and they have done a great job"

Should there be a TART on every corner?
....The Evening Post seems to think so. Congratulations to Jennie, Ellen and Andrew on their fantastic review.
Review 16 Oct
We couldn't be more proud of our association with TART and we're hardly surprised that the reviewer agrees with everybody else. It's not surprising that you have to struggle so hard to get a seat, with the great combination of Andrew's culinary skills and Jennie's cakes and warm welcome. The biggest problem is going to be keeping the Simple Simon WAGS out of the place.

New Bristol Hotel
Simple Simon Design have been appointed as concept designers for a new hotel in Barton House. The hotel will be ideally located for business visitors, as well as appealing to Bristol's increasing number of weekend tourists who will be drawn to its central location opposite the new Cabot Circus shopping development. The site is being developed by Eclipse Hotels for whom Simple Simon refurbished the main public areas at the Express by Holiday Inn in Poole during 2007. This development should prove to be far higher profile and a significantly higher spec, with the client hoping that Simple Simon will give their own unique twist to this usually conservative sector. The new hotel won't be opening until later in 2009, so watch this space for news of further developments.

17 Black Opens
Congratulations to Dan and John Lafford on the opening of 17 Black. The good people of Cirencester seemed very pleased with their new night venue, and expectation was obviously running high. We're very pleased with the final results and very proud to have been a part of it. We hope that the immediate success will continue for years to come.
