This Aqua site located at The Hub in Milton Keynes had traded as a restaurant previously, however to maximise the number of covers and introduce a destination bar, a complete redesign was required including significant structural alterations. All back of house areas had to be relocated and the extraction massively overhauled which naturally stripped the venue back to a shell.
The brief was to maintain the aspirational atmosphere that Aqua is known for without appearing too high end for casual diners. The resulting design has a careful balance of the trademark Aqua elements with a new palette of colours and finishes. A feature antique bronze staircase ties in with the lighting and furniture in a similar finish to create an intermediate level seating area close to the bar.
Natural oak flooring, blackened steel metalwork and polished aluminium pendant lighting provide a contemporary industrial feel, whilst geometric tiling, velvet upholstery and high mirrored walls add the opulence essential to the brand.
